Dubai: Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world at a height of 838 metres was inaugurated in 2010.
The grand fireworks display marking its inauguration was spectacular and drew a large audience.
The skyscraper was built at a cost of Dh5.5 billion.
Dubbed the Desert Rose, the design is based on a three-petalled desert flower Hymenocallis, with each arm representing one petal, and in between the petals, on the lower levels, are three smaller wings representing the flower's minor lobes.
