More than hundred shooters competed in the second 50-metre open shooting championship, organised by Al Ain Club for shooting last week, under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, President of the club.
The participants were divided into four categories over 50 years, 12 to 18 years, 19-49 years, while the fourth category was confined only to the UAE National team players, but they could not take part.
Ali Subaih Al Kabei, his son Hamad along with Khalifa Abdullah Al Kutbei were crowned champions of the three groups respectively. The tourney witnessed severe competitions between the participants within each group.
At the end of the event Saeed Sultan Balyaza, manager of Al Ain Club for shooting, gave away the cash prizes for the winners.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mansour said that encouraging the youngsters to practice the sports of their fathers and grandfathers was the main aim of organising such championships.
"The Al Ain Club for shooting was capable of achieving good results through continuous and fruitful work despite its recent start. Our shooters came up with outstanding results in the World Military shooting championship, held recently in Finland," said Sheikh Mansour.
