Fujairah set for high-flying events

Fujairah: Organisers of the 12th Asiania Parachute Championships and 1st Fujairah International Open 2008, which will get under way on Friday, have promised to put on an impressive show.

Both championships are being organised by the Fujairah International Airport in association with the Emirates Aviation Association and will last until November 7.

The events will get under way at 4pm near the Marina Club at Fujairah Corniche and will feature 400 competitors from 35 countries, organisers said.

Preparations for the Dh10 million event are in the final stages and the organisers are hoping to attract an audience "worthy of the spectacle and magnitude" of the event.

Dr Khalid Al Mazroui, chairman of the organising committee, said the event is the largest of its kind in the Middle East and promised a "good show".
