Crash caused when one car hit barrier early on Friday morning

Dubai: A five-car pile-up on Shaikh Zayed Road was caused when one vehicle hit road barriers on Friday morning.

The incident happened at 7am, with the first car driven by an Emirati, according to Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafien, Dubai Traffic Police Chief.

At least one of the cars caught fire as a result of the crash, with casualties not known at this stage.
