Fire breaks out at Sharjah automobile workshop

Sharjah: A fire broke out on Tuesday morning at a automobile workshop near Sahara Centre Road, which spread to two other nearby workshops.

An official at Sharjah Civil Defence confirmed that the fire broke out at around 8am, and that Anjad police patrols cordoned off the area, including the road after the Sahara Centre Bridge. Emergency services arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control, and no casualties or injuries were reported.

A large cloud of black smoke could be seen spreading across the area and caused heavy traffic jams as motorists were diverted to alternate routes.

"The fire was contained but due to the flammable goods inside the shops, such as tyres and chemical liquids, the fire was fuelled even further and spread to the nearby shops," said the Civil Defence official.
