Fil and Kim dominate first round

Sophie Fil of Abu Dhabi Golf Club by Sheraton and K. S. Kim of Emirates Golf Club will go head to head in the second and final round of the 2004 Emirates Ladies Amateur Open today as both recorded excellent score of 78 in round one.

As most of the field struggled with fast greens and high rough on the Majlis Course, it was Jayshree Gupte, also of Emirates Golf Club, who emerged as the surprise package and most likely to threaten the lead should Fil and Kim falter today.

Kim, playing in Emirates Golf Club colours for the first time and always the favourite in the Ladies Open events around the UAE set the pace with a front-9 of 38 including a tidy birdie on the short 4th hole. She collected another two on the 11th and three pars to finish the day saw her home 6-over par.
