Temperature expected to shoot up on Saturday in the UAE

Dubai: Though the temperature will shoot up this Saturday to 31 degrees Celsius, the pleasant weather will continue through March and the blistering heat of summer is still far away, according to weathermen.

A north-westerly wind blowing in from the sea has brought down the temperature to three degrees below the average for this time of the year, said Dr. S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster at the Dubai Met Office. Temperature is hovering at 27 degree Celsius. The humidity range will be between 45 to 80 per cent early in the morning.

The winds are because of a high pressure system building up over the eastern part of Saudi Arabia. "The change will be very gradual and you will not feel it," he said, about the onset of summer. The Met Office starts monitoring the Comfort Index in May.

Last summer the temperature shot up to 50 degrees Celsius in Mihnad, middle of the desert outside Dubai and in Jebel Ali.

It will be partially cloudy over the weekend.
