Dubai: The Shamal winds expected this week will cool the Emirates, bringing minimum temperatures of between 17C and 18C.

The welcome rain that has added to the cooling may also revisit this week, although not extensively.

Dr S. K. Gupta, duty forecaster, Dubai Meteorological Office, said: "This week we are expecting a bit of Shamal so it will be a cooler week with partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of a few spots of rain," he said.

Winds will be mostly confined over the sea, blowing at between 20 and 24 knots offshore, and a much reduced 12 to 16 knots inland.

The clouds of dust and sand - that can sometimes pose a risk to motorists by reducing visibility - are not expected, as the winds will not be that strong.

Gupta said of camping conditions for the weekend: "It will not be that pleasant, there won't be bright sunshine and it will be a bit windy. It will be around 22C to 23C with a few spots of rain here and there."

Humidity will not be a factor next week, rising to morning highs of 80 per cent but hovering at at 30 per cent during the day.
