Al Ain's first waste management recycling plant opens on July 29

Dubai: Al Ain's first waste management recycling plant is officially opening on Monday.

Residents' lifestyle will not face any drastic changes as sorting is done at the plant and not at the source.

"The trucks will still pass and pick up the waste, but instead of going straight to the landfill they will come to the plant," said Andreas Seiser, financial manager of Emirates Environment Technology (EET), the Sharjah based company that will manage the facility.

The four-line recycling plant started operations on July 15 and has so far been sorting 400 tonnes a day. "We are not at full capacity but we have been synchronizing the sorting lines and training the people. It is a huge plant divided into four sorting lines and a very bog organic composting plant," said Seiser.
