Abu Dhabi: Marking Zayed Humanitarian Day and retrieving great values, visions and national work laid down by him, several Emiratis and expatriates expressed their sincere gratitude to the late distinguished leader during these blessed days in Ramadan.

Dr Hamdan Musallam Al Mazroui, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments said, “Shaikh Zayed had created a country that is based on very strong foundations, transforming the life of the forefathers from one of separated tribes to a unified family.”

“He transformed deserts into green oases and made the UAE and its citizens occupy a reputable position among other nations,” he added.

Al Mazroui has also pointed out that it’s a great initiative by the wise UAE government to mark Ramadan 19 of every year as Zayed Humanitarian Day to remind us of all the good that Shaikh Zayed has done.

The ninth anniversary of the departure of Shaikh Zayed has been remembered by many people across the UAE and all have agreed on that Zayed will always remain a model of goodness, wisdom, and humanity all over the world.

“Shaikh Zayed has successfully instilled the spirit of giving and upheld the principles of benevolence and we are now following his footsteps in every project or humanitarian service we implement all over the world,” said Maitha Al Habsi, chief programmes officer at the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development.

“Shaikh Zayed did not only provide the people of the UAE with all forms of decent, dignified and good living, but also his hands have stretched out full of kindness to provide high quality education and health services to poor nations, orphans and needy families across the globe,” she added.

Additionally, several Emiratis and expatriates have regularly visited Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi to remember the late Shaikh Zayed.

“Going to Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque and especially in the last blessed ten nights of Ramadan has become a habit to enjoy the spiritual traditions of this month and to pray for Shaikh Zayed whose generous giving touched everyone’s heart,” said Ahmad Samir, a resident of Abu Dhabi.

The Emirates Red Crescent has emphasised that Zayed Humanitarian Day is a message of love and peace from the UAE to all nations and its people all over the world.

“Shaikh Zayed’s charitable aid has reached everywhere without any distinction among the underprivileged peoples, since he was always supporting the distressed and needy peoples every where,” said Dr. Mohammad Atiq Al Falahi, secretary general of the Emirates Red Crescent.

Another expatriate, who have been residing in the UAE for almost 24 years, told Gulf news, “One day is not enough to mark the good deeds and the great humanitarian services done by Shaikh Zayed. Words will never describe how much I love this man. In every country I have travelled to, I have seen magnificent imprint left behind by the late Shaikh Zayed,” said Nour Saleh, a resident of Abu Dhabi.
