EMI to organise 12-hour fundraising campaign today

Emirates Media Incorporated (EMI) will organise a fundraising campaign today to demonstrate support to children of Palestine, Palestinian resistance, martyrs, widows and minarets of Jerusalem.

Emirates Media Incorporated (EMI) will organise a fundraising campaign today to demonstrate support to children of Palestine, Palestinian resistance, martyrs, widows and minarets of Jerusalem.

The 12-hour drive involving Abu Dhabi Television, Emirates Television, Al Ittihad newspaper and Abu Dhabi and Dubai radio stations will begin at 2 pm.

EMI will offer its publications mainly Al Ittihad newspaper, Majid and Zahrat Al Khaleej magazines as well as clothes, pens, posters and Palestinian scarves for sale with the proceeds going to the Palestinian cause.

Sales points will be set up at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation and Abu Dhabi Mall in the capital, Deira City Centre and BurJuman Centre in Dubai, Al Ain Mall and Sahara Centre in Sharjah and Al Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah.

EMI will also join hands with the UAE Red Crescent Society in its fundraising drive.

Abu Dhabi and Emirates stations will air live interviews with artistes, politicians and viewers from the world over. Documentaries and reports of the Palestinian resistance and Israeli atrocities in the Palestinian Territories will also be broadcast.

Among those who will particiate in the Solidarity Day are Lotfi Bushnaq, Zikra, Hussain Fahmi, Jamal Soleiman, Dawood Hussain, Nidhal Al Ashqar, Nusair Shamma, Abdul Rahman Al Abnoudi, Majdi Abdul Ghani, Suha Bisharah, Lailah Khalid and Mahmoud Darwish. They will be involved in discussions with viewers.

Live transmission will be aired from EMI offices in Beirut, Amman, Cairo, Paris, London, Washington and Jerusalem.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai radios will also cover the campaign and contribute to receiving donations.

Majid, one of EMI's magazines, will auction on the Internet its first issue dating back to February 28, 1979, works of prominent Arab artists, some of them portraying the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.

People can bid for these works on the EMI website at www.emi.co.ae. All Majid magazine's young friends are invited to participate to show their support to their Palestinian brothers.

Al Ittihad newspaper also contributes a number of paintings and caricatures portraying the struggle of the Palestinians by prominent artists.

The daily will provide its readers with addresses of all world leaders to enable them to send letters expressing their feelings and views about the Palestinian cause.

It will also mail letters received from children from the world over to world leaders. Its supplement today will be dedicated to exposing Zionist excesses in the Palestinian Territories.
