Their actions ensured the passenger received timely medical care

Dubai: Quick thinking and teamwork were on full display at Dubai International Airport when two traffic marshals, Balraj Singh and Adarsh Chandran, sprang into action to assist a passenger in distress. The incident, which took place at Terminal 1, Area 3, underscored the importance of vigilance, swift response, and seamless coordination among airport staff.
While on duty, Balraj Singh noticed a passenger struggling to walk and showing visible signs of distress. Concerned, he approached to offer assistance. Upon closer observation, he realised the passenger was experiencing difficulty breathing and chest pain — potential indicators of a serious medical emergency. Recognising the urgency of the situation, Singh immediately contacted his team leader to request medical support.
As they awaited medical assistance, Singh and Chandran took proactive measures to ensure the passenger’s safety and comfort. They cleared the area to prevent crowding, allowing the individual to receive fresh air while minimizing stress. Their quick decision-making and compassionate approach helped the passenger remain as comfortable as possible until the medical team arrived.
For Singh, hospitality means going above and beyond to ensure passenger satisfaction. “For me, hospitality means exceeding expectations to help passengers so they can leave Dubai Airport happily,” he shared. Chandran echoed this sentiment, adding, “For me, hospitality is about satisfaction. We make sure passengers are happy with our service and feel at home.”
Their words reflect the dedication of airport staff to creating a seamless and supportive travel experience for every guest.
The incident also highlighted the smooth collaboration between multiple departments at Dubai International Airport. The swift response involved traffic marshals, medical personnel, airport police, and administrative staff from Dnata, all working together to provide necessary aid. Chandran emphasised this teamwork, stating, “Throughout this incident, we saw various departments — Dubai Airport Police, medical teams, and Dnata admin staff — working shoulder to shoulder to ensure the best possible outcome.”
This incident is a testament to the airport staff’s unwavering commitment to passenger well-being. By remaining alert, acting quickly, and coordinating effectively, Singh, Chandran, and their colleagues exemplified the highest standards of service and safety. Their actions not only ensured the passenger received timely medical care but also reinforced the values of empathy and responsibility that define Dubai International Airport’s customer service ethos.
