EIDA to relaunch Empost ID card registration
Abu Dhabi: More mobile units for ID card registration will be set up by the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA), to ease the rush for expatriate registrations, a senior official has said.
Ali Al Khouri, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Quality, EIDA, said: "Our mobile registration units deployed at work places have registered large numbers of people.
"As a large number of expatriates are yet to register, we are trying to open new channels to reach out to the applicants, apart from EIDA centres," Khouri said, adding that Emirates Marketing and Promotions (EMP), a subsidiary of Emirates Post Holding, is one of the options.
To date, 830,000 individuals - both Emiratis and expatriates - have completed registration.
However, Darwish Ahmad Al Zarouni, Director General, EIDA, told Gulf News that the initial plan to transfer all registration facilities to EMP was not entirely successful. A total of 10 registration units were transferred to EMP and its staff were trained.
"If it was successful, applicants could do the entire registration process at EMP offices also, apart from EIDA centres". (EMP has been handling pre-registration application process since October 2008).
EMP was appointed exclusive agent for the pre-registration application processes for ID cards.
Applicants can buy special envelopes, priced at Dh40, from post offices, fill out the registration form and submit the envelope at the post offices.
EMP arranges appointments for applicants to visit EIDA centres for further processing. "If EMP can carry out the registration process satisfying Eida standards, we are still ready to assign them to handle the entire registration process", said Al Zarouni.
Khouri added that data quality is a significant issue when the registration process is assigned to an external agency.
Have you successfully registered for the Emirates ID? Have you received your card yet? Which is the most convenient way to register? Fill in the form bellow to send your comments.
I wish they could inform the public on what the next step is after receiving the bar code receipt. How long will it take before the person is called for the actual registration?

I have applied for my ID card last year and have not heard from the EIDA centre at all. I have been to the Al Barsha centre and was told to wait for an appoinment. I noticed that the centre was only half full and the women who were waiting there for their turn with young children. I do admire women being served first, especially here in Dubai and think that there should be a women/children day at the centre. This will save so much time. Also, there should be a mobile service for companies. This will again save so much time for all... only one employee could come over and serve several. From the financial point of view this system will be more effective. This would also reduce parking problems and traffic congestion. I will be more than happy to set this one for my company.

I had submitted three pre-registration application forms for myself and my family in mid November at the Sharjah post office. On January 13, I received the smart form back by Empost. However, I received only my one. I am still waiting for my wife's and child's forms. Unless and until I receive the smart forms for my family, I cannot approach the EIDA centre. I do not know what else to do.

I suggest there be a mobile registration service to the labour camps, especially the ones in remote areas.

As anyway EMP is handling pre-registration, it would be a good idea if they start the registration process too. This will lessen the burden on the existing centres and also speed up the process as many more people could register. I tried getting an appointment in December but was unsuccessful. I will be trying again and would like to get an appointment for April. I am hoping that now, with additional options, this attempt of mine will be successful.

I registered at Empost with my husband on October 27. I am still waiting for it to come. I do not understand why there is such a delay.

I have submitted my envelope in November at a centre in Ajman. As of today, I still have not received the filled form, and yesterday I did the online appointment and got it for March 23. Should I get my filled form before the appointment date?

We already filled the application forms and submitted the envelopes. Now, two months later, I did not receive any feedback or appointment date from the authorities.

My colleagues and I registered for the ID card in October. Despite various follow-ups and complaints, it still has not been delivered.

Please open a call centre as well as more registration centres to clear any doubts or obstacles that people have in this regard.

I have already availed the service of Empost in December, wherein I bought special envelopes, priced at Dh40, from Al Karama post office. I filled out the registration form and submitted the envelope. Till this moment I have not heard from them.

My ID card was applied in Umm Al Quwain and I have it now. I was not able to get it in Al Karama Centre even after three visits because of the very long quees and quota requirement of the centre per day. I suggest to place a mobile centre for the expatriates in Mall for easy access during weekends.

I think ID cards should be registered and issued during the renewal of a residence permit.

My friend fed all my information through the internet and she gave me two copies of the output - one is like a bar code and the other sheet is my details written in English, I do not know what the next step is.

I live in Ruwais and work inside the Ruwais Industrial Complex as a contract labourer. We work 10 hours a day and get Fridays off. I have filled up the online registration form more than two months ago. The nearest EIDA center is 40 kilometres away. I went there twice at 6am to complete the registration process but was asked to leave after waiting for four hours, as they only accept 10 people a day. I would like to suggest that EIDA should have a pre-appointment and token system for the people who visit the centre. Moreover, I would also like to say that since we have a large number of expatriates working in the complex, an EIDA mobile unit with more counters with extended working hours be deployed near the Ruwais Industrial Complex. This will really help us and speed up the registration process.

I submitted my pre-registration form to Empost in mid November and still have not received anything back to continue with the appointment. When contacted, Empost told me to wait. The deadline for my registration is February and I am still waiting for the bar code.

If you can arrange all the facilities in Empost and open in the evening, it would be more helpful for the people to register.

Last Saturday we went to the EIDA centre. It was 6am and they told us they were only servicing people who have appointment slips who. There were no notes or anything at the gate to inform people. It was very cold outside and some children were also there waiting, but at the end but in the end not many got what they came for. The information and procedures aer not very clear.
