Hard work 'and education of women' are vital

Dubai: Educating women, determination and hard work will help to elevate Arab society, said a leading businessman yesterday.

Mohammad Ali Al Abbar, Chairman of the Emaar Group, was addressing students during his visit to Dubai Women's College for the new students orientation programme.

Al Abbar stressed the importance of hard work and education in attaining goals. Dr Howard Reed, Director of DWC, and a number of college officials were present.

"No government, money or oil will change the way the Arab world is looked down upon in these times. It is through educating women, who will raise generations to come, and spreading knowledge that we will be able to be on par with other nations," said Al Abbar. He added that human capital is one of the most treasured assets in our world. He called on students to start depending on themselves and work hard to meet the demands of life.

"You need to be determined to have a goal and go after it. We need to look at other people's experiences and learn from their mistakes and build on that."

Programme for 50 US students in March

Zayed University will organise an academic programme for 50 graduate full-time EMBA students of Georgetown University in the United States during March. Dr Sulaiman Al Jasem, Vice-President of the university, announced this after a meeting with a delegation from the Georgetown University in Abu Dhabi Campus. Dr Al Jasem indicated that the US delegation will visit Zayed University as part of their work placement programme to the UAE in March.
