Dubai: Among the Arab countries, the UAE is influenced most by globalisation, according to a study by an international institute.

The study by Koff Institute in Switzerland assessed the effects of globalisation on 123 countries.

At a Ramadan gathering held by Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police and Director of the Juvenile Awareness Association, the issue of "raising the UAE national child under cultural and behavioural globalisation" was discussed.

The study revealed that the UAE ranked 21st on a global list of countries affected by globalisation with Kuwait coming in at 32nd and Saudi Arabia at 113th. The UAE came ahead of the other 11 Arab countries on the list.

The participants discussed the impact of globalisation on the youth and the issues that make UAE national children more vulnerable to its negative impact. They also discussed how to benefit from the positive impacts of globalisation.

Lt Gen Dahi considered raising the national child under globalisation a big challenge.

Brigadier Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Director of the Dubai Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), stressed the importance of the issue and its effect on the youth's behaviour.

He said in reality there was a communication gap between parents and their children.

The meeting recommended improving school curriculums to protect the youth from the negative effects of globalisation.
