Abu Dhabi: A total of 218 Emirati students will travel abroad this year, under the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s (Adec) Summer Abroad programme, it was announced on Sunday.

The Adec’s Summer Abroad programme will allow these students to spend six weeks developing their English and leadership skills. This year, students will go to the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia as part of the initiative that first started in 2006.

During their trip abroad, male students are housed with families abroad, while female students live at designated student hostels. In addition to the courses offered to students, the Adec also organises a number of fields trips during the summer programme.
