Civil Defence staff among special guest at Only the Brave’s premiere

Dubai: The brave men and women of Dubai Civil Defence were among the special invitees at the premiere screening of the Hollywood film Only The Brave at Novo Cinemas in Dubai Festival City on October 26.
Phars Films, the distributor of the film in the UAE and GCC along with Jaguar Films, said a day earlier: “We are proud to have the support and endorsement of the men and women who risk their lives to ensure the security of all who live in this country. Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, director-general of Dubai Civil Defence, will attend the screening along with senior officers and members of the Ministry of Interior and the Dubai Civil Defence.”
Based on the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite crew of firefighters from Prescott who battled a wildfire in Yarnell, Arizona, in June 2013, Only the Brave is a true life story of an incident that claimed 19 lives.
The action film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer. The movie, which stars Taylor Kitsch, Jennifer Connelly and Jeff Bridges, is a story of hope, determination and sacrifice. A tribute to all firefighters, it highlights how firefighting is among the most challenging of all jobs, with some having to make a conscious move towards danger, while others flee from it. An inspirational film, Only the Brave addresses many issues that are at the heart of a community, including responsibility, perseverance, character and human touch.
Dubai Civil Defence’s stellar performance, dedication and professionalism have come in for high praise time and again for the manner in which it responds to and manages a crisis, be it the rescue of human lives from gutted skyscrapers or kittens trapped in roadside gutters.
