The Dubai quadrathlon challenge for a cause was postponed to next Friday (March 7) due to 'unforeseen circumstances'.

Franky Spencer, who was to take the challenge on Friday (February 28) to raise funds for the Dubai Autism Centre, has emailed the organisers that the challenge has been postponed due to time constraints on getting an additional approval required from Nakheel, developer of the The Palm Jumeirah.

Organisers said the approval will be granted "early next week".

Spencer, a Dubai resident, geared up for the special quadrathlon challenge to raise awareness on challenges posed by autism.

Everyone can share their thoughts and views on Spencer’s quadrathlon through twitter at #SupportFranky.

Emirates NBD has already pledged to donate Dh50,000 that will go towards the centre’s new building.

The challenge

The quadrathlon starts at 6.30am, with 500-metre swim across Mamzar Lagoon. He will then cycle 30km to Jumeirah Beach, and paddle 10km to The Palm, before finishing with a 12km run up to Nassimi beach by 1pm.

Donation boxes will be available at the finish point, said organisers.
