Dubai: Dubai Police is looking to recruit 200 Emiratis.

Dubai Police in coordination with Tanmia – the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority — held a “day of immediate hiring” at the Dubai Police Officers Club on Wednesday, where jobseekers could know whether they are hired for a job with Dubai Police within 10 minutes of finishing the tests.

Over 120 applicants applied at the open day.

Abdullah Bin Mohammad Gobash, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tanmia and Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, attended the day.

The day was open to Emiratis from all over the country from 8am-7pm. Brigadier Ahmad Rafi, Director of the Human Resources Department at Dubai Police, said that they extended the hours from 5pm to 7pm, so people coming from the northern emirates could make it to the event.

Rafi said that applicants can apply at Dubai Police at any time of the year, but that this day was for facilitating the process by putting all the steps under the same roof, so it’s easier for the applicant.

Applicants go through a medical check up, IQ tests and are interviewed face to face. The process takes around two hours, after which the applicant is sent an SMS, informing him whether he qualified or a job or not.

Al Rafi explained that after the applicant is accepted, he comes back within a few days for further medical check-ups and then if he passes he gets a hiring confirmation.

“It is every Emiratis right to have a job in his country,” Gobash said, explaining that all the initiatives from Tanmia aim to do that. He also commended the efforts of Dubai Police.

Al Mazeina said that this was an opportunity for any Emirati who is unemployed and has no income source to get a job. He said that they also hire people with special needs. “Dubai Police has the highest number of special needs employees across all government departments.”
