Al Asayel Road runs parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road, and is the first to close at 4pm.

Only buses and emergency vehicles will be allowed on Al Asayel Road after 4pm on Tuesday.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, which is closest to the epicenter of the celebrations of Dubai, will be closed from 5pm or earlier if the Dubai Mall parking gets full.

Happiness Street will be closed at 6pm from the Roda Al Murooj intersection

Zabeel Intersection on Happiness Street will close at 8pm.

By 8pm, all roads leading in and out of the Downtown Dubai area will be closed until after the celebratory fireworks. Police, emergency vehicles and shuttle buses will be the only vehicles passing through the closures.

Taking the metro? The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station will be closed from 10pm (December 31) to 6am (January 1, 2020). Shuttle buses will ferry visitors to the cordoned off areas and back.

Both the Red and the Green Lines of the Dubai Metro will be in operation from 5am on Tuesday 31 to midnight January 2. This means that the Dubai Metro will run 43 hours straight without any break.

Dubai skies will be lit up at midnight with fireworks planned at over 20 locations across the city.
