Dubai helicopter crash victims named

Dubai: Dubai Petroleum on Friday released the names of the seven victims who died in a helicopter crash on September 3 at an offshore oil rig.

Briton Captain Christopher Brown and Captain Luis Lovera from Venezuela worked for Aerogulf Services.

Briton Adam Rae Duff and Indian national Julius Alex Pereira worked for Noble Drilling.

Jayant Ingale, an Indian national, was a staffer with Baker Hughes Incorporated, while Shuja Ur Rehman, from Pakistan, and Filipino Disodado Buhangin worked with Production Services Network.

"The companies express their condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and will focus their combined efforts on supporting all of those who have been affected by this tragedy," the statement said.

The relatives of the deceased were notified on September 4 and many of them are already in Dubai or are currently en route to the emirate, it added.

Earlier, Dubai Police said the bodies were burnt beyond recognition and DNA tests would have to be carried out to identify them.
