Driver dies after crashing into entrance of Ibn Battuta Mall

Dubai: A female driver was killed when she lost control of her car and hit a cement pillar at the entrance of Ibn Battuta Mall in the early hours of Saturday, police said on Sunday.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Traffic Department in Dubai Police, said the woman was speeding when she lost control of her four-wheel drive vehicle near the mall.

“The accident happened on 6am on Saturday. The driver was reportedly speeding when she was surprised with a road bump and the vehicle slipped to the left side of the road and hit the pavement before crashing into a cement pillar,” Brigadier Al Mazroui said.

Police patrols and ambulance went to the scene to rescue the woman but she died due to serious injuries.
