Dubai: Two students have denied impersonating police personnel, kidnapping two men and stealing their mobile phones and Dh900 after beating them, heard a court on Sunday.

The Public Prosecution charged 24-year-old M.R. and his 20-year-old associate F.H. with posing as policemen, kidnapping two workers, beating them and stealing their money and cell-phones.

The duo pleaded not guilty when the appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The suspects beat them with their hands and a wooden bar before they robbed them and escaped, victim A.F alleged.

His compatriot, 36-year-old M.A., confirmed A.F.'s statement and added that the suspects asked them to show their identification. "We were compelled to take out our wallets when they posed as policemen," he said.
