Suicide bid: Woman in ICU after jumping from building at Deira City Centre

DUBAI An Indian woman, 23, is being treated for critical injuries in Rashid Hospital after she fell from the third floor of the Deira City Center P4 parking building at 7pm on Sunday. It is alleged that she had attempted suicide.

Normalcy was already established at the scene of the jump when XPRESS visited the parking building on Monday. Shop clerks on their cigarette break seemed oblivious to the event of the preceding night, which left the woman severely injured and unable to move. A broken camera is reported to have been by her side.

Police say that the woman may have been suffering from psychological problems. Police say that witnesses saw the girl and her father arguing in the mall, which may have contributed to her state of mind.

Officers are investigating the circumstances of the woman’s jump. She is likely to face charges if it is proven that she had tried to commit suicide. UAE law forbids people from taking their own life.
