Police find huge quantity of counterfeit goods, including cosmetics in raid

Sharjah: Sharjah Police have busted a five-member gang dealing in counterfeit goods.

Major Abdullah Maleeh, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Central Region Police, said the police received a tip-off about the illegal activity of the suspects. Later, the police raided their hideout and arrested the Asian suspects.

The police found a huge quantity of counterfeit goods, worth millions of dirhams, including cosmetics, perfumes, smart phone batteries and accessories, as well as health and food products.

The police in coordination with the Economic Department raided a farm in Al Dhaid where the suspects stored tonnes of fake products. The suspects rented the farm for this purpose and the owner was not aware of their illegal activity, the police said. The suspects have been referred to public prosecution.

Meanwhile, Colonel Ahmad Bin Darwish, Director of the Central Region police urged all community members to cooperate with the security agencies and report any suspicious acts or crimes.
