Woman claims the traffic officer asked her for a kiss and to have sex
Dubai: A policeman has been accused of asking a woman to kiss him and have sex with him to cancel a fine she was issued after a car accident.
Prosecutors charged the 30-year-old Omani traffic officer, M.K., of abusing office by requesting sexual favours from a 40-year-old Filipina in return for having the fine cancelled or reduced from Dh5,000 to Dh200.
M.K. denied the charges at Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.
He was accused of using his position as a traffic police officer to coerce the woman into kissing him and having sex with him. The defendant prepared a traffic report after the Filipina caused an accident in a car park in Oud Metha.
He also claimed to her that the penalty for the accident would be between Dh1,000 and Dh5,000 and ten traffic points.
Sting operation
The woman, a manager, said: "He told me ‘beautiful Filipina' when he first saw me. He took my contact number and made me sign the white paper of the traffic report… then he handed me the red paper because I was at fault. When I asked him if it was possible to reduce the fine, he promised to talk with his friend to see if he could reduce the fine… then he asked me to call him after duty.
"He called me several times across different periods… he insisted to meet him in his car. I told him my husband does not allow me to meet him on my own… but he insisted to meet him in his car and asked me to kiss him and have sex with him if I wanted him to cancel the fine," she added.
Prosecution records said the woman cooperated with Dubai Police and met the suspect in his car behind BurJuman Centre. As part of a sting operation, police arrested M.K. trying to talk the woman into having sex with him. It will be used as future evidence against the suspect in court.
The trial continues.
