Police arrest the driver within 48 hours of video going viral

Sharjah: Sharjah Police have arrested a motorist for reckless driving in a residential area in Khor Fakkan and putting lives of people in danger after the driver posted a video on social media that went viral.

The video clip circulated on social media showed the suspect stunt driving and deliberately making loud noises to attract attention.

The clip also showed the car driven without a number plate, the driver’s face covered with a red cloth and his friend sitting on the passenger seat and half his body was out of the window.

Colonel Ahmad Khamis Al Mutawa’a, deputy chief of the Eastern Region Police, said the clip, which was filmed and published by the motorist himself, went viral.

After the incident, the driver hid the car in a house in the area.

Col Al Mutawa’a said it was difficult to identify the car and the driver but officers managed to reach the driver in 48 hours after the video went viral.

The driver has been arrested and his car seized.
