National council and Sharjah free zone sign deal to regulate media relations
Abu Dhabi: The National Media Council (NMC) and the Sharjah International Airport Free Zone entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday for regulating media relations on the model of similar agreements the NMC signed with other media free zones in the country in implementation of the Cabinet resolution.
The MoU, inked at the NMC headquarters in Abu Dhabi by Salim Al Ameri, Deputy Director General of the NMC and Khalid Al Madfa, Assistant Director General of the Sharjah Airport Free Zone, calls for laying down a regulatory framework for media activities in a way that boosts the UAE's capacity to attract world media companies and personalities to the zone.
The NMC is the authorised agency to regulate and issue media licences by virtue of federal law no 15 of 1980 concerning printing and publications and other Cabinet resolutions, including the 70/13 of 2007 for regulating media licensing by some free zones.
