The Dubai Attorney-General has denied that Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, former governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre, was released on bail
Dubai: The Dubai Attorney-General has denied that Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, former governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre, was released on bail, WAM reported quoting a Dubai Government Media Office statement.
Denying news reports of Dh50 million bail to Bin Sulaiman in the case of alleged abuse of public office and financial irregularities, Essam Eisa Al Humaidan said bail cannot be posted in this case as investigations are continuing.
Al Humaidan said that some of Bin Sulaiman's relatives had sent a request to pay the Dh50 million against the sum Bin Sulaiman took as a bonus in an unjustified manner, WAM reported.
The Attorney-General stressed that the investigations will not stop at the "bonus" issue, but will also cover all the details mentioned in the Financial Control Department's report on Bin Sulaiman's violations.
Gulf News on April 16 reported that Bin Sulaiman was released on bail of Dh50 million.
