Etisalat secretary on trial for selling confidential info

Abu Dhabi: A secretary at Etisalat was referred to the criminal court for disclosing customers information.

In the hearing on Monday, the Indian suspect denied all charges.

She allegedly provided unidentified parties the names, addresses and contact details of Etisalat customers in exchange for money.

She allegedly used her mobile phone and email account to give out the confidential information.

Her direct supervisor told the court that even though her job included processing paperwork and customer files, of which customer information, she was not authorised to access the customers' database.

He assured the court that he did not ask her to provide anyone other than Etisalat employees with any customer's details. However, he could not confirm how much of the customers confidential information she had disclosed.

The case has been adjourned to April 17 for a final sentence.
