Elderly man saved from house fire in Kalba

Kalba: An elderly man was saved from a house fire in Kalba on Sunday by neighbours and family members.

An air-conditioning unit caught fire, spewing flame and smoke.

Apart from the elderly man, no one was in the house of the Emirati national in Kalba at the time of the incident.

Major Mohammad Ahmad Al Kaabi of Kalba Civil Defence said fire-fighting units rushed to the scene and the blaze was swiftly brought under control.

There were no reports of injuries but the fire and smoke caused considerable damage to the property.
