Dubai: A Dubai court has sentenced an Asian national to one month in jail, fined him the value of the money he stole, and ordered his deportation after he was found guilty of stealing cash from a parked vehicle near the Umm Suqeim night beach, Al Khaleej newspaper reported.

According to case records, an Arab man reported that Dh9,100, $300, and 1,000 Saudi riyals had been taken from his car while it was parked in a designated lot by the night beach.

He told police that he had left the vehicle unlocked and returned to find the cash missing.

A police officer testified that investigators gathered evidence from the scene and identified the suspect, who was later arrested.

The investigation revealed that the man took advantage of the unlocked vehicle, entered it, and stole the cash before leaving the area.

Although the defendant denied the charges in court, authorities found that he had used the same method to steal from multiple vehicles, and evidence showed he had stolen the money from the complainant’s car. The misdemeanour court convicted him and issued the sentence accordingly.
