Customs officers seize rare antiquities and artefacts near Dubai Creek
Dubai: Customs officers have seized around 128 rare antiquities and artefacts near Dubai Creek while being smuggled through the emirate.
Six sailors, believed to be from Iran, have also been arrested, said Ahmad Butti, Director General of Dubai Customs, on Wednesday.
The objects - around 5,000 years old, including sculptures, gold and silver coins, and very valuable - will be examined by experts.
The origin of the objects and modus operandi of the smugglers are being under investigation.
