Dubai: A chef accused of chewing off part of a waiter’s ear because the latter harassed his girlfriend pleaded guilty before the the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.

On learning about the incident, the defendant went to the waiter’s room and assaulted him, biting off a small chunk of his ear in the process.
Prosecutors accused the chef of unintentionally causing the waiter permanent disability.
At the hearing on Wednesday, the chef told presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi that he was willing to reconcile with the victim.
“I offered to reconcile with him and he asked me for money. Currently I do not have the amount,” the chef said.
“The ruling will be on February 10 … if you obtain a waiver from him before that date, you can provide it to the court,” presiding judge Al Shamsi told him.

A Chinese witness told prosecutors that the incident happened around 1.30am inside the room that he shares with the waiter.
“The defendant stormed into the room and shouted in Arabic. They got involved in a fistfight... I tried to stop them... I saw blood coming out of the waiter’s ear,” he testified.
