Dubai: The Dubai Public Prosecution (DPP) has a young and capable cadre of Emirati personnel who are fully supported by the Dubai Government, Attorney General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan said on Tuesday.
"I am satisfied with the performance of DPP's qualified cadre. If we commit any mistake, we will be held liable for it due to the supremacy of the law. The course of lawsuits before the three stages of Dubai Courts [First Instance, Appeal and Cassation] ensures the enforcement of justice," said Al Humaidan while announcing the sixth International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Middle East and Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Saturday being hosted by DPP on November 14-16.
Advocate General Chancellor Khalifa Bin Deemas, who heads the Conference's Higher Organising Committee, said the participants will deliver 19 worksheets focusing on two major topics — involvement of information technology in prosecutors' performance and risk management.
"DPP will participate with four worksheets focusing on the implementation of technology in prosecutors' job from when the investigation begins and the issuing of the charges sheet until the case's referral to court. We will have a couple of surprises that we will unveil during the conference. On that part, I can only reveal that one of the surprises is concerning the electronic referral of a case to court," added Bin Deemas. Al Humaidan said there will be tens of prosecutors representing countries of the region at the Conference, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East'.
Addressing the media conference yesterday, Al Humaidan said IT has become an important tool in the operations of public prosecution departments.
"We are seeking to develop our preparations against risks and learn how to manage them. We have a huge responsibility and obligations towards protecting and preserving our clients' rights. The IAP Conference's worksheets will also focus on risk management."
