40,000 pairs of fake branded shoes seized in Sharjah

Sharjah: The Department of Economic Development (DED), in cooperation with Sharjah Police, seized a large amount of fake branded sportswear in a warehouse in Sharjah Industrial area and arrested people who were operating on the premises.

DED received a tip-off from a brand that some people intended to distribute fake shoes in the market carrying their brand.

A total of 40,000 pairs of fake sport shoes were seized during the raid.

The suspects were referred to the public prosecution for further action.

DED usually screens the local market in the emirate of Sharjah for adulterated and counterfeit products, to protect consumers from commercial fraud in addition to preserving the rights of trademark holders.
