Sharjah Municipality gives priority to maintain the cleanliness of the city and imposes fines of between Dh500 to Dh5,000 against violators.
Abdullah Al Nabouda, Head of the Hard Waste Section, said the Municipality is committed to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness, and health and a safe environment.
The penalty could be accelerated, apart from the fines, to cutting off of electricity from the violating building or establishment.
Also, the municipality continuously notifies watchmen to maintain buildings and issues directions on the need to put garbage bags at specified places.
He said the job of workers who empty garbage is limited to only emptying the skips and they are requested to perform their jobs according to a timetable.
The municipality has a fleet of modern vehicles which transfer garbage emptied from skips day and night to the dumping sites, aiming to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness.
The municipality is even keen to maintain clean garbage skips. The skips are washed and purified periodically, according to a timetable prepared for this purpose.
The municipality uses covered skips, distributed at the main streets and areas in the city. Also, beautifully designed litter-bins have been placed in different streets, parks and promenades, he added.
