His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has issued Royal Decrees announcing a cabinet reshuffle, appointing a new police chief and naming a new commander for the Royal Navy of Oman.

Malik bin Sueliman bin Said Al Maamari has been named new Inspector-General (IG) of Police and Customs with the rank of Lieutenant General. Al Maamari was earlier minister of transport and telecom.

Outgoing IG Sheikh Hilal bin Khaled bin Nasser Al Ma'wali succeeds Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Matar Al Azizi as minister of civil service.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Isa Al Harthi, earlier an undersecretary, is the new minister of transport and telecom.

Commodore Salim bin Abdullah bin Rashid Al Alawi has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and made Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman. He takes over from Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, who has been appointed as the Adviser to Sultan Qaboos in the reshuffle.
