Dubai: Two Meadows residents are urging developer Emaar to increase security and install CCTV cameras after their houses were broken into last month.

Elena Ferraiulo, a Meadows 2 resident said she lost Dh1,500 and some euros when a thief broke into her villa at night.

On the same night, thieves also made a forced entry into her neighbour’s villa through the kitchen window. “The morning after the incident, when I woke up, my nanny informed me that there was a big sandy footmark on our kitchen counter. Immediately I called the police who came and took fingerprints of the house,” said Marie d’ Halluin.

Luckily Marie did not lose anything that night. “That night, I was a bit restless. I kept waking up to check on my children and that could have put off the thief. There is a urgent need for better security in the area,” she said.

The residents also called upon Emaar to improve lighting and security in the area.
