The Body Shop will donate the revenues from sales at its branches nationwide tomorrow to support the people of Palestine.
The "A Day For Palestine" project will be held at the cosmetics chain's seven outlets in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. The money will be forwarded to Palestine through the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.
A company spokesman said, "As a company based in the multi-cultural environment of the UAE, The Body Shop recognises that we have an obligation to involve ourselves in aiding those areas of the world which have suffered disasters both natural and man-made.
"We urge each and every person who can do so to come to one of our shops on this day with the knowledge that the money for each purchase will be given to benefit Palestine through the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation."
The campaign - the first of its kind for The Body Shop - will also help raise public awareness of the suffering in Palestine.
"We expect a 20 per cent increase in sales that day," the spokesman said. "All the money - not just part of it - will be donated to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, which will send the funds to designated areas in Palestine."
