Al Gharbia job fair attracts big turnout

More than 30 firms seek promising applicants

Al Gharbia: Al Gharbia Career Fair 2009, seeking to promote employment opportunities for students in Al Gharbia (formerly the Western Region) started on Sunday at the Madinat Zayed HCT (Higher colleges of Technology) campus.

College and high school students, and the general public enthusiastically turned up on the first day to get career advice and view the opportunities on offer.

More than 30 leading companies were present, eager to recruit qualified applicants. They included representatives from government entities, banking, education, energy, health care, investment, tourism and other sectors.

Location

Higher Colleges of Technology Madinat Zayed and Ruwais and the Western Region Development Council (WRDC) organised the five-day fair running at the respective campuses.

The event at the Madinat Zayed campus was open to women. Today it will be open for men.

The fair will continue on to Ruwais and November 4 will be reserved for women and November 5 for men.

WRDC Director General Mohammad Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazroui together with Director of HCT Madinat Zayed and Ruwais, Dr Philip Quirke opened the fair.

The WRDC Director General said: "We are delighted that this initiative goes such a long way to fulfilling our mission to facilitate employment and career development opportunities for the residents of Al Gharbia."
