Over 500 national high school and university graduates from Sharjah's eastern region, who are seeking jobs, will join two professional administrative training courses at Sharjah University.
Sharjah University gave a presentation on the course on Saturday at the Khor Fakkan Women's Club.
The event was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and Head of the Family Supreme Council and Women's Clubs in Sharjah.
The presentation aimed at introducing national women students to the Sharjah Ruler's programme of professional qualification. This programme has two professional qualification and executive training courses for the women who graduated from high school and failed to join a university college, and those who graduated from certain colleges but failed to get suitable jobs, said Moza Naser Mubarak, head of the Khor Fakkan Women's Club.
The first course aimed at qualifying national students who got less than 60 per cent in their high school certificates and failed to join any college of the UAE universities. The second targets national women university graduateds in chemistry, psychology and social studies who failed to find suitable jobs.
"Such programmes, workshops and training courses help our educated national women to be well-qualified to handle any kind of administrative job offered to them by Sharjah Government when they complete their one-year courses," said Moza.
Dr Sheikh Sultan also gave national women university graduates in chemistry, psychology and social studies a chance to obtain a diploma in education at Sharjah University so that they would have a better chance of getting jobs.
The national women students concerned, who came from Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hoson, will start their one-year courses on September 22 at Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al Hoson Women's Clubs.
"Eight new classrooms, including two computer laboratories, have been opened for national women university graduates at Khor Fakkan Women's Club to attend their advanced executive course. Other classrooms have been prepared at Dibba Al Hoson Women's Club for national women high school graduates to attend their administrive and clerical course," Moza added.
Dr. Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al Najjar, Director of the Studies and Research Centre at Sharjah University, gave the presentation.
The students will undergo an evaluation exam before they start their courses. Several university teachers and educational experts will give lectures in courses which will be in Arabic, except for the English language learning course, Moza said.
The courses will cover using the telephone, fax, photocopying, filing and keeping documents and archives. They will also teach how to organise appointments, prepare meetings, typing in English and Arabic and shorthand.
Using computer word processing programmes, sending e-mails, surfing the internet, reading, writing and speaking English and arranging Arabic and English correspondence will also be part of the courses.
