26-year old killed in horrific Ras Al Khaimah road crash

Umm Al Quwain: A 26-year-old UAE national died and two others sustained serious injuries after a vehicle collision on Emirates Road in Umm Al Quwain early on Friday, Major Saeed Obaid Bin Aran, Director of Traffic Department at Umm Al Quwain told Gulf News on Friday.

The young Emirati, accompanied by two of his friends on a four-wheel drive, was heading toward Ras Al Khaimah when the accident happened.

The accident happened due to excessive speeding, said Aran.

Aran said the accident took place around 2.30am near exit 103 toward Ras Al Khaimah. The four-wheel vehicle collided with a pick-up truck and veered to one side due to excessive speeding, causing the vehicle to overturn five times, said the official.

The police patrol and ambulance rushed to the accident site as soon as Umm Al Quwain police received news of the accident, Aran said.

The young Emirati died on the spot and the two others were transferred to hospitral for treatment, the official said.

Aran urged motorists to abide by road safety rules and to be careful.
