Ajman: Some 180 workers will be deported without receiving their salaries for the past four months, Gulf News has learned.
The 180 workers, who worked illegally for a local government department in Ajman, are now in police custody, a police official said. He said they are all Afghans who infiltrated into the country and were later hired by a local government department to work at construction sites.
The official said they worked for the department for a long time till they were detained two days ago. The workers, now detained at Ajman Central Jail waiting to be deported, lived in poor conditions.
According to an official from the Ajman Naturalisation and Residency Department, they are waiting to receive air tickets for the workers and outpasses for them to be deported.
