For a tropical getaway, where better to jet off to than Central America's Panama City? Check into the so-cool-it-hurts, recently opened Tántalo Hotel, which perfectly blends the city's artistic flair with the historic twist of the UNESCO-protected area.

The boutique hotel, which you'll find in the quaint Casco Viejo neighbourhood (widely considered to be the arty part of the city) has been built and designed with eco-awareness and art in mind with repurposed and recycled materials used throughout the 12 rooms - each displaying works from a different local artist.

Each of the rooms have their own style, and we love the bright and colourful Geo-Orga room. But the art isn't found only in your suite as there are murals in the corridors, installations in the bar and graffiti dotted around the hotel. And if you're dead set on enjoying a truly arty holiday, you'll be in the perfect neighbourhood, as just outside the hotel's front door you'll find plenty of esoteric stores, galleries and restaurants in which to while away the hours.

Back at the hotel you'll be spoilt for choice by the in-house facilities, with the rooftop bar - the first of it's kind in Casco Viejo - the perfect place to sit and enjoy picture-perfect sunsets, whilst the kitchen restaurant is a great place in which to enjoy long leisurely meals. And the menu will take you to every point on the globe, featuring flavours from India, France and Venezuela, all spiced up with a Panamanian twist. Just make sure you try their speciality A Night In Casco cocktail - the perfect accompaniment to your night in Casco.

Gemma at The Bowery Hotel, New York, USA

When you have a restaurant named after Scene's editor in the Big Apple, it's no wonder that it's a total celeb hotspot. The Italian eatery in The Bowery Hotel, found in Manhattan's hip East Village, is a fave of the A-list, with Brit model Alexa Chung spotted eating (yes, eating!) there last week, and Tom and Katie are often there for dinner.

Serving up delicious food, it's an ideal choice for dinner and cocktails with the girls when you're next in NYC. Or try their brunch menu, we'll be ordering the Eggs à la Gemma, natch.

The resort beautifully blends the old and new of India, with its traditionally North Indian architectural style and touches such as hand-made rugs and jaali screens alongside expansive terraces, deluxe rooms and the ultra-luxe Lodhi Suites, a five-storey building that comes with your very own butler.

If you can tear yourself away from your suite, make sure you check out the local sights - the Mehrauli Archaeological Park is absolutely stunning, exploring 1,000 years of Indian history, it's a total must-visit.
