Dubai: The UAE has officially declared the Islamic New Year holiday for 2025, providing a fantastic opportunity for a long weekend getaway. From Friday, June 27, to Sunday, June 29, both private and public sector employees will enjoy a delightful three-day break. With this extended weekend approaching, it’s the perfect time to explore some of the top family-friendly beaches throughout the UAE for an unforgettable vacation.

Dubai

1. Jumeirah Beach

One of the most popular areas around Jumeirah Beach, this pristine stretch offers excellent facilities for families. The soft white sand and calm waters make it ideal for children, while parents can enjoy beachside cafes and water sports activities.

2. Umm Suqeim Beach

Located near the iconic Burj Al Arab, this beach provides stunning photo opportunities alongside family fun. The waves here are perfect for bodyboarding, and the beach offers ample space for beach games. Parking is available, and several restaurants nearby cater to families with children's menus.

3. Kite Beach

Named after the colourful kites that fill the sky, this beach is perfect for active families. Children can enjoy playground equipment, while teenagers might try skateboarding at the adjacent skate park. The beach offers volleyball courts, fitness equipment, and numerous food trucks serving family-friendly meals.

4. Sunset Beach

A quieter alternative to the busier beaches, Sunset Beach offers spectacular views of the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah. The gentle slope into the water makes it safe for younger children, and the evening sunsets create magical family photo opportunities.

Abu Dhabi

5. Corniche Beach

The jewel in Abu Dhabi's beachy crown, especially when it comes to families, the Corniche is a pristine beachfront divided into three handy sections with Gate 2 specifically designed for families. The beach features gardens, cycling paths, and playgrounds, making it a complete family destination.

6. Saadiyat Public Beach

A peaceful spot with natural shores, perfect for spending a fun day with friends and family. The beach is 400 meters long and offers clean, warm turquoise waters. This Blue Flag certified beach ensures high environmental and safety standards, with turtle nesting sites adding an educational element for children.

7. Hudayriyat Island Beach

Abu Dhabi's Hudayriyat Island features pristine beaches and a variety of amenities for both residents and visitors. Enjoy multiple beaches, water sports, and family-friendly dining with beautiful marina views. The 600-meter beach is open to the public daily from 8 am to 7 pm, free of charge, and includes three new slipways for boats and jet skis, making it a great spot for adventure enthusiasts.

Sharjah and Northern Emirates

8. Al Mamzar Beach Park

This unique beach park combines pristine beaches with lush greenery. Families can enjoy barbecue areas, swimming pools, and chalets for rent. The park's lagoons are perfect for younger children, while older kids can enjoy the playground equipment and sports facilities.

9. Ajman Beach

A more relaxed atmosphere awaits families at Ajman's public beaches. The calm waters and soft sand create an ideal environment for building sandcastles and swimming. Several resorts along the beach offer day passes with pool and beach access.

Tips for your beach weekend

The best times to visit the beach are early in the morning (7 to 10 am) or late in the afternoon (4 to 8 pm) to avoid peak sun hours and large crowds. To ensure a perfect family beach day, it's essential to pack sun hats, plenty of water, snacks, beach toys, and a first aid kit. Most beaches provide facilities such as restrooms, changing areas, and nearby dining options. Additionally, several beaches are equipped with wheelchair accessibility and designated family areas for added convenience.
