Louis Vuitton and Stella McCartney dazzle on the seventh day
However, the highlights of the day were the lines from Stella McCartney and Louis Vuitton.
For her latest collection, which was showcased at Centre Pompidou, Stella McCartney collaborated with artist Frank Stella.
The collection was trademark Stella McCartney affair with her lines and motifs clear and present. She also opted for oversized suits and shirts, as well as long-sleeved dresses. Overall, her collection reflected the ‘in’ silhouette this season, i.e. oversized jackets paired with lingerie. The look was paired with slinky, tights and lowers.
In expressing her views about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Stella closed her show to the soundtrack of Give Peace a Chance. She also made a donation to CARE, an organisation that is providing support to Ukraine.
Louis Vuitton also presented a stunning line for its Fall/Winter collection, which made history being the first-ever runway show at Musée d’Orsay.
Overall, the show was rather light-hearted in its approach to fashion. It was not tethered to a specific timeframe, but instead celebrated young adulthood.
Nicolas Ghesquière, the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton commented on the collection in his show notes: “[It is] an excursion into a perceptible, fleeting, and decisive moment when everything comes to the fore, in all its innocence and insight. The impermanence and beautiful volatility of adolescence.”
The looks were experimental and featured unconventional pairings such as an evening gown coupled with sportswear tops. There was, expectedly, oversized tailoring for unisex apparel, as well as embroidered knits and tweed.
