Indian IT sector posts impressive growth
Dubai: India's overall exports in the computer software and services and electronics sector reached $23.71 billion in 2005-06 compared to $17.21 billion in 2004-05.
Every year, exports from IT sector is registering an impressive growth.
During 2005-06, the growth in IT exports was as high as 37.77 per cent as compared to the previous year.
Under the umbrella of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) an apex export promotion organisation, 24 Indian companies are participating at the show, said D.K. Sareen, Executive Director, ESC, India.
Kamal Vachani, regional director said, "India's exports to Middle East countries grew by 75 per cent in 2005-06 and the region continues to maintain its fifth position for India's exports of electronics and computer software and services," he said.
Currently, 80 out of 117 SEI CMM Level 5 certified companies worldwide are located in India. Over 300 Indian software companies have acquired international quality certifications. India trains 75,000 professionals a year and has over 10,00,000 people working in the software and services sector.
There are several initiatives taken by the Indian Government to broad base the software industry in India. As part of the empowerment plan of the Government, the software industry does not require start-up permissions and do not faces any locational constraints.
