Freedom of choice arrives for Dewa customers

New service aims to make payments easier

Dubai: As 49 per cent of customers of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) are using e-Pay services, Dewa and etisalat have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch an innovative payment solutions — e-life.

Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa, said: "In addition to 16 e-Pay solutions for Dewa over 200 payment points across Dubai, customers will be able to pay their bills while they are watching TV via the e-life service.

"This new accomplishment is an inherent part of our strategic plan to increase the competency, productivity and professional development of Dewa e-services and to foster the technological development of telecommunication networks and also the framework of promoting the application of e-services and encouraging the use of the e-portal, while introducing top quality innovative services in customer service."

Al Tayer said that there are around 80,000 customers who have subscribed to e-vision and are able to use the e-life service to pay their utility bills.

Increasing

"Dewa recorded a 30 per cent increase in e-Pay transactions on an annual basis. However, we are expecting the rate to increase with additional e-Pay solutions."

Dewa reported 1.2 million e-Pay transactions so far this year.

Etisalat's Acting CEO, Nasser Bin Obood, said: "With this partnership, etisalat will be able to provide a wide variety of payment solutions for Dewa in order to leverage the latest technologies and enable freedom of payment choice for its consumers."
