Dubai: There aren’t many audio speakers that can be labelled as ‘good-looking’; a few stand out, but they still look very much like a piece of electronic equipment. The Intuit Collage wants to be as much a piece of ‘art-décor’ as it does audio speakers.

The front of the speakers feature two panels — red and black, or an alternate combination of white and beige — which give it much of its ‘looks’. These panels can be attached to a base to place the speakers on the table, or alternately remove the base and place it on a wall.

The collage has won the Idea Innovation and Design award 2012 and the CES Innovations and Engineering Excellence Awards in 2012.

That being said, not every room or home will have a decor that the Intuit could fit in to, especially since the device doesn’t have an ‘ordinary’ design. In these cases, the Collage’s ‘stand out’ looks could work against it.

Not to be dismissed as just a pretty face, the Intuit Collage boasts some serious underlying technology. It features patented speaker technology including DSP surround sound chipsets, digital amplifier, and two woofers — all of this to produce enough sound to fill a room.

The Intuit Collage speakers are not battery powered and do require a constant power supply. That being said they’re light enough, weighing in at 1.29kg, to take with you anywhere; making the speakers portable.

The power cable is the only one you’ll have to worry about hiding; the Intuit Collage features wireless connectivity via Bluetooth. The price of the Collage Intuit is Dh1,299 which definitely makes it pricey and places it on the higher end. However Intuit would like you to see the Collage as a part of your furniture as much as a speaker.
